What Happens in London by Julia Quinn

When Olivia Bevelstoke is told that her new neighbor may have killed his financee, she doesn't believe it for a second, but, still, how can she help spying on him, just to be sure? So she stakes out a spot near her bedroom window, cleverly concealed by curtains, watches, and waits . . . and discovers a most intriguing man, who is definitely up to something. Sir Harry Valentine works for the boring branch of the War Office, translating documents vital to national security. He's not a spy, but he's had all the training, and when a gorgeous blonde begins to watch him from her window, he is instantly suspicious. But just when he decides that she's nothing more than an annoyingly nosy debutante, he discovers that she might be engaged to a foreign prince, who might be plotting against England. And when Harry is roped into spying on Olivia, he discovers that he might be falling for her himself . . .

Julia Quinn is one of my favorite authors. She brings her characters to life, and gives them such great personality. Every book she's written (yes, I've read them all) has never failed to get a few giggles out of me. What Happens in London was as cute as I thought it would be. I was so excited to get my hands on it after waiting so long. So listen up, Romantic novel lovers: Julia Quinn's books are some of the best you'll ever read!

Oliva is a very likable character. She is smart, witty, brave, and funny. A quirk she had that I just loved was her "reasons why" lists. Some of the things she came up with were hilarous. Harry was a great character himself, and he wasn't very moody which is always a plus. The tourted brooding man with the dark past gets old after a while. He was perfect for Olivia. Simon, who is getting his own novel (coming out summer of 2010), stole my heart. He was a charmer, and his cheerful nature made me smile (and laugh) often.

I adored this new installment from Julia. She has once again sucked me into another story, and made me fall in love with her characters. Bravo!

  1. Julia Quinn is one of my favorite authors too. Thanks for the review I really needed it cause when I read about Harry I was afraid he was going to be alike like John Blackwood in Dancing at Midnight. Overly moody and kinda whiny. Thanks again.

  3. She's one of my favorite authors too! I just recently read The secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever, and I'd forgotten how great she is. I love her writing. I'm glad you liked this book, I saw it at the store the other day but I didn't get it :( I will next time!
